NBA: Celtics vs. Knicks - Boston Ties 3-Point Record in Season-Opening Rout of New York

The Boston Celtics opened their 2024-25 NBA season in dominant fashion, defeating the New York Knicks 123-97 at Madison Square Garden. Boston tied their franchise record for most three-pointers in a game, draining 27 from beyond the arc in a stunning shooting display.

Jayson Tatum led the charge for the Celtics, scoring 34 points while hitting 7 of his 10 three-point attempts. Newly acquired Jrue Holiday and Kristaps Porziņģis made an immediate impact, with Holiday contributing 22 points and Porziņģis adding 20 points and 12 rebounds against his former team. 

Boston’s shooting barrage overwhelmed the Knicks, who struggled to keep pace. Julius Randle posted 25 points for New York, while Jalen Brunson added 18, but it wasn’t enough to match Boston’s relentless offensive attack.

With their lights-out shooting, the Celtics set the tone for the new season, putting the rest of the league on notice.
