PlayStation Network is down, knocking PS5 and PS4 gamers offline

Gamers looking to enjoy their PlayStation 5 or PlayStation 4 may be out of luck tonight unless they're in the mood for single-player experiences (have you tried Astro Bot?). Sony's gaming network is experiencing a significant outage on Monday evening.

According to the official PSN Service Status page, the issues are impacting all platforms, including PS Vita, PS3, PS4, PS5, and the web. The latest update at 9:21 PM ET indicates that players may have trouble launching games, apps, or accessing network features. Sony is working to resolve the issue as quickly as possible and appreciates your patience.

On my end, attempting to launch a game resulted in the “PS5 error Code WS-116522-7,” which indicates that “the system software update failed.” Players are unable to sign in, play multiplayer games, or access single-player games that require an online connection (offline titles appear to be functioning normally).

There’s currently no information on the cause of the outage or an estimated time for resolution. This doesn’t seem to be related to the earlier bug affecting PS5 home screen artwork, which was resolved just hours ago. We’ll keep you updated as more information becomes available.

In other news, GoPro has launched two new action cameras: the GoPro Hero 13 Black and a smaller model. Today, we’re reviewing the flagship Hero 13, which feels quite similar to the Hero 12, featuring the same 8:7 sensor and specs—5.3K at 30fps, 4K at 120fps, and 27MP photos. However, the new GoPro boasts a range of accessories and features that enhance its appeal. It can shoot super slow-motion video up to 400fps, includes proper HLG HDR, and comes with a redesigned battery. Additionally, GoPro has introduced three new lenses: macro, ultra-wide, and anamorphic.
