UN General Assembly 2024: Diplomats Walk Out in Protest Against Netanyahu's Address

During Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's speech at the UN General Assembly, numerous diplomats staged a walkout to protest the ongoing war in Gaza and recent attacks on Lebanon. This coordinated action highlighted widespread discontent regarding Israel's military actions and the humanitarian impact on civilians in the region. The walkout underscored the increasing tensions surrounding the conflict and the urgent calls for diplomatic solutions. Scores of diplomats walked out of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's address at the UN General Assembly on Friday, protesting the ongoing war in Gaza and recent Israeli attacks on Lebanon.

As Netanyahu began his speech, several diplomats exited the hall in haste, prompting the presiding diplomat to call for order. The war in Gaza, now nearing its one-year mark, has devastated the region, leading to over 42,000 deaths and displacing nearly the entire population at least once, with those in northern Gaza facing famine.

Despite the humanitarian crisis, Israel has intensified its military actions, recently launching relentless bombings in Lebanon that have resulted in more than 700 casualties, including many women and children.

In response to the walkout, Netanyahu defended Israel's military actions, stating, "Israel has every right to remove this threat and return our citizens to their home safely." He also warned of potential further escalations, specifically addressing Iran: "If you strike us, we will strike you," he asserted, emphasizing Israel's reach across the region.
