Zach Lowe has been let go by ESPN.

NBA writer and podcaster Zach Lowe has become the latest casualty of budget cuts at Disney’s ESPN, according to The Athletic. He joins Sam Ponder and Robert Griffin III, who were also let go.

Lowe, a well-respected figure earning a seven-figure salary, was deemed by ESPN executives not to be producing enough to warrant his pay. Unlike Ponder and Griffin, Lowe is more of an analyst than an insider, which limited his ability to fill the gap left by Adrian Wojnarowski's sudden retirement. He gained recognition while working with Bill Simmons at Grantland before its closure in 2015.

Potential next stops for Lowe include The Ringer or The Athletic. Additionally, ESPN may be saving resources to pursue free agent Shams Charania, who recently smiled broadly when asked about interest from NBC, Amazon, and ESPN. “Just going through the process, baby,” Charania remarked with a grin.
